Ten fiYe trucks and more than 60 men were unable to halt lhe first fire but were able to save a nearby bungalow which

had started to burn.

THE SECOND COTTAGE was completely

scorched black on the side nearest the leveled building but virtually untouched on its eastern

Neighbors said the destroyed building hadn't been occupied for some years and was in a statd ol disrepair. Although Lhe fire was under control by 10 p.m., firefighters remained for several hours to extinguish any flare-up in the rubble. Cause of the blaze was unknown and an investigation is underway
