Swimming Tryouts Set For Oct. 22
CAPE MAY - The Deportment of Public Relations and Recreation will condfcct registration
and tryouts for the 190tV«! swimming arid diving teams beginning at 7 p.m. at the Cape May City Elementary school. I^fayette Street, Oct. 22. Boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 are invited to come and test theirskills. For those who decide to Join, the $35 swimming team fee and the $15 diving team fee will be required on the 22nd.

COURT HOUSE - Mainland Regional High School's band was the overall winner in competition with other South Jersey Competitors held at Memorial Field here. The Middle Township Panther Marching Band, host for the contest, was ineligible' to compete for the trophies. MAINLAND. Delaware River and Bay Authority has applied to the Army Corps of Engineers to construct an
fdditional berth for a new
ferry at its terminal here. -
The work will include
relocating a ditch,
reconstructing dolphins, constructing a bulkhead,
placing rip-rap, and dredging and filling in the
Cape May Canal.
The dredged spoil will be pumped through a pipeline to a disposal site controlled by the Corps of Engineers..

The competition was under the direction of Richard Ludwig, music d;/ector of Middle
Township High. He was assisted by the Band Boosters Club. Jerry Costande, announcer for Panther football games, was also the announcer for the con test. The event drew 1,800 spectators, and there was 1.200 student musicians competing.
