Battersby, Court House Arco Service Station owner; Larry Boyer, publisher of the Gazette leader newspaper; Louis Hasson, president Greater Wildwood Hotel-Motel Association; Donald LaRicks, Sea Isle City realtor. The highlight of the evening was the burning of the chamber's mortgage conducted by Past Presidents Ulric J. Laquer, M.D.; John T. Turner, W. Howard Gerald, E. Warren Garretson, Richard Lynch and Matthew Tomlin. THE Iss.oen mortgage on the Chamber of Commerce Office and Information Center at Crest Haven Road and the Parkway was paid off in eight years through member's subscription and donations. Outgoing President Tomlin welcomed the 81 businesses who became new members of*the County Chamber in the fiscal year just ended. Smeltzcr reviewed the history of the founding of the Chamber of Commerce movement both world wide and nationally and emphasized the purpose of the Chambers of Commerce.

THORNTON SAID THAT he has in sthicted the county planner and his staff to provide technical assistance and irtformation to any developer, private property owner or farmer to support legal action agaiast Pinelands regulations. He said that the county will start legal action unless the Commission's plan for the Protection Area which includes Cape May County unless the plan conforms with the county’s own Comprehensive Plan. HIS MOTION TO OPPOSE all restrictions in the Protection Area has been adopted by all eight counties represented in the South Jersey Freeholder Association, he said. Finally, Thornton said if the Protection Area restrictions are not removed, the county will petition Congress to withdraw all funding for the Pinelands legislation Thornton is vice chairman of the Freeholder Board, and director of the county Planning Board.
