DvtaWaN SWEET SOUND of trumpets is just part of the winning combination that's known far and wide as the award-winning Middle Township High School Marchirtg Band. Under the direction of Richard Ludwig, the Panther musicians V marchers won best overall band Friday In the annual South Jersey Marching Band competition at Millville after taking the top Group II honors the previous Sunday in Ham monton. This Saturday the band participates with nine other top high school bands from throughout the state in the annual N J. State Festival of Mkrchlng Bands at Mainland Regional, Lindwood.

So it appears that there will be no organized competition this winter. There seems to be a "tempest in a teapot" over the resignation of Chick Ludman, high school basketball coach. In an Interview in the Philadelphia Inquirer, he claimed that his basketball budget has been pared to $150. Too bad when it looked like Chick was about to establish a dynasty in the league with such young players as- Doug Fulford, Frank Brown. Dawson Spaulding, etc. IN THE MEANTIME, maestro Dick Ludwig's Panther Marching Band continues to win honors in band competition. The latest trophy was for best in class and also second overall. Big Assist To Little League STONE HARBOR - At the September Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting, president Glenn Townley suggested to the large crowd that a contribution be made to the Stone Harbor-Avalon Little League Football Team so that they could secure new uniforms. *' The idea caught on like wildfire, and the Chamber raised $224 for the team. The Stone Harbor Duplicate Bridge Club added another $100 to raise the total sent to the team to $324.
