COURT HOUSE-Beech Fox, Republican candidate for Congress, charges that the votes of Rep. William J. Hughes on business regulations encourage greater government control over private enterprise. Citing Hughes’ votes on propose^ amendments to the Emergency Energy Conservation Act of 1979, Fox said "Hughes rejects the initiatives o( business people to cut back on energy costs in their operations". REPORTING FROM congressional voting records, Fox says that Hughes voted against an amendment that relieves restrictions on business people who reduce energy consumption in ways other than by controlled thermostats. "The measure rewards property owners who try to
reduce heat loss by installing better insulation and weather stripping," Fox explains. The Republican bill was adopted July 31, 1979, by a vote of 287-1S2. ON STILL ANOTHER energy amendment, Hughes voted to give the federal government the authority to restrict business hours under the conservation a9t, Fox reported. "This is a clear vote against private enterprise," Fox charges. "Hughes obviously favors strict federal regulations which allow for little flexibility. "These types of regulations always end up hitting the small shopowners harder than big business, and it’s about time someone down in Washington started thinking about the little guy," Fox concluded.

chairman, Phil Matalucci. "I have never been so excited by the worker reports as I am this camaaign," he said. "I urged all our leaders to have the workers take an accurate poll, as they have been going house to house. The results are astounding we are finding people choosing Reagan over Carter by 4 to 1." According to the Republican leader, “reports that have come from our survey say the people want a President and Congress that will take stands on issues, cut down on the over-sired bureaucracy in Washington, work to balance the budget and start listening to the little guy ” Matalucci concluded his news release: "I have never felt so good about a National election as I do about this one.
