Fox Still Hits Hughes On Voting
COURT HOUSE — Republican Beech Fox opened the final week of his campaign for election to Congress with a renewal of his attack on Rep. William J. Hughes voting record, and an indication of what congress should be doing. “A vote for Hughes will be a vote for more of the liberal democratic legislation that has crippled the economy and is destroying the inttfative of the American People." Fox said in a news release. THE REPUBLICAN reemphasized his charge that Hughesvoted“almost70 per cent of the time" in support of the Carter Administration, and adds that "despite his denials. Hughes would continue as a Carter Hand in Congress." aoundfng the Republican call for a "change of the party that controls Congress," Fox continued "only a Republican Congress can begin to tame •the' economic monster created by more than a quarter of a century of Democrat Control of the House." Fire Prevention Effort Extended

COURT HOUSE - The county * Chamber of Commerce, by resolution passed at the October meeting of the board of directors, has itfged defeat of the $145 million Natural Resource Bond Issue referendum on next Tuesday's ballot. The chamber points out t ha t the bond issue will cost state taxpayers for years to come, and that there is no direction in the bond proposal as to how the Department of Environmental Protection should use the money. It also charges that the DEP has ignored local control and home rule, and has “imposed costly permits, fees, studies, and other expenses upon individual property owners and taxpayers in their over-zealous grab for power and control." The chamber urges everyone to vote "no" on the proposal and calls on
all other chambers in the state to join in opposing the referendum.
