Voll says GOP Shuns
Discussing MUA W.oes
Democratic Freeholder candidate Michael Voll has charged the Republican freeholder candidates with intentionally refining to discuss the problems of the county MUA because they are Afraid to disclose the facts concerning the second appraisal recently promised by MUA director John Vinci. Voll. who has maintained that the St 4 million ap^ praisal nf-^thc Menhaden plant is a "ripoff” and an insult to the taxpayers, said. "Not only is this appraisal outrageous but the taxpayers will even tually be asked to pay for this rundown facility in their first sewer bill from the MUA.'' VOI.I,. WHO credits the MUA's decision to reappraise the Menhaden plant with his offer to pay
personally for a second appraisal, said "How can a plant which was offered for sale in 1978 for 8200.000 now be worth almost 11.5 million? "I have definite proof that the MUA has ordered the second appraisal of the Menhaden plant held up unitl after the General election, "hesaid. THIS IS BEING DONE, Voll charged, because "that second appraisal is going to be a hell of a lot less than their first appraisal of 81.4 million "The taxpayers of Cape May County are being taken for a ride, tfe went on. " and this has got to stop. How are retired citizens going to afford a 850. per month sewer bill when this monster is completed?"

ERMA — Because Lower Township is still without a windmill code, the township Zoning Board of Adjustment next Wednesday night will be deciding upon the latest variance request by a resident to erect a windpowered machine on his Tabernacle Rd. property here. The application by Louis Lambert for his 49 Tabernacle Rd. estate known as One Thousand Summers will be heard by the board during its 7 p.m. Nov. 5 meeting in township hall. Villas. MR. LAMBERT'S property has sufficient lot ■size for the proposed 60 ft. windmill. But because there is no local windmill code, all windmill ap-

plications must be decided by the zoning board. A recommended windmill code was forwarded to the Township Committee some time ago, but has yet to come before the governing body for formal action, apparently pending final review by the township solicitor. IN TIIH meantime, the
zoning board will be abiding by the guidelines it established several months ago when it decided following the first windmill application that, absent a specific code, it would treat windmills as non-permitted uses everywhere in the township. Ordinance-coverage of windmills is considered
necessary because of the number of windmill requests anticipated in the wake of alternative energy source accommodations by homeowners.
Dangerous Intersection Due Change
COLD SPRING - The State Dept, of Transportation has announced it will receive bids in November for the longawaited improvement of the dangerous Route 109Ocean Dr. - canal bridge approach. According to DOT| the project will involve channelization and construction of turning lanes and guide rail, paving and curbing installation. The project, to be funded
by the federal and state governments, is to be completed before the end of next May. Township and county officials have been pushing the state for years to improve the intersection - near the Garden State Pkwy and Cape May’s entrance - where there have been numerous serious accidents including fatalities, to say nothing of countless fender-benders.
