United Way Launched

MIDDLE TWP. - The 1981 campaign of the United Way in Cape May County will kick-off 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 3. at the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor Blvd. The $106,500 goal is to support the programs and services of 12 agencies which serve several thousand Cape May County families. Four members of the United Way Board of Directors form a Campaign Cabinet for specific functions. They are: Lew Tazour of Marmora. Major Employment Unit; Marion Olson of Court House. Government and Services Unit; Mary Herbert of Court House, Metro Unit; and George Neidig Jr. of Palermo. Professional Unit. MEMBER AGENCIES for this year’s campaign include: Boy Scouts of America; (5irl Scouts of America; Cape May County Unit of the Association for Retarded Citizens; Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training and Opportunity Center;

Mental Health Services of Cape May County; Abuse Center; Cape-Atlantic Legal Services; Contact; Jersey Cape Visiting Homemakers; the Salvation Army; First Call for Help; and United Service Organizations. Because the campaign is run entirely by volunteers, at least 90 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to agency services and programs. The balance is used for planning and campaign expenses. Decisions on allocations and priorities are made by citizen committees of a board of directors elected by the public at the annual meeting. To volunteer, call 522-1 "
