by David WHnlwrg The Lower Township Haiders clinched their second consecutive Cape May County championship with a win ovdr Ocean Qty in Midget football action Sunday. The Raiders got off to a quick start as halfback sensation Michael Wing returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a 6-0 Lower lead. Ocean Qty tied the score on the next series as they blocked a Raider punt and ran it in

In the second period, quarterback Jim McDonald gave Lower Township the lead for good
with a 25-yard scoring toss to split end Mike Mathews. WING LATER closed out the scoring in the second half as he broke several tackles en route to rambling 47 yards for another touchdown. Season Runs Down For LCMR
OCEAN CITY - The Lower Cape May Regional Cross Country Squad ended their 3-13 season in disappointing fashion with four losses to Ocean Qty, Wildwood Catholic, Hammonton, and Buena high schools last Wed- ’ nesday here. Ed l,odfoe continued to show promise of a bright running future as he grabbed the 17th spot in 18:47. Ocean City continued their perfect season with four more victories as they routed the Capers 15-50. The Tigers also dropped matches to Wildwood Catholic 16-44, Hammonton 26-31, and Buena 24-34.

DEFENSIVE END Frank McMonagle led a strong effort by the defense with a blocked punt for the 7- 0 Raiders. The undefeated season was also the second consecutive unbeaten campaign for the defending champion Raiders. + + + A 50-YARD touchdown run by halfback Bruce Fournier, keyed a second half comeback as the Lower Township Raiders overcame an 18-14 deficit to grab a 27-24 win over Middle Township in earlier action. Raider quarterback Jim McDonald gave Lower an 8- 0 lead with a 32-yard scoring strike to Tom McGill. After Middle closed the gap to 8-6, halfback Michael Wing widened the Raider margin to 14-6 with a 37-yard touchdown scamper. MIDDLE WAS not to be denied, however, as they scored twice to lead 18-14 at halftime. The second half was all Lower Township as Fournier scored and Mark llalhruner scored on a 34yard run.
