IT WAS AN active shark season, and the club continues to grow due to the efforts of Capt. Jim Solly, of the "Fiesta”, and Marcie May, of Green Creek. Billy MuIHgan was
and his grandson Mchie will be arriving Sunday in Bob's van. FRANK HINELINE and George Felti, of Cape May are flying in Monday in George’s plane; and Joe Macgregor and a couple of other fellows are waiting down there with Joes' camper. I won't even try to guess
I the outcome of tUs trip, because everything changes every year, and this one will be no exception. Andy Grace and I wait every year to see that candy qtriped lighthouse come into view. When we do, we know we're back in Red Drum country, and our trip has begun. From all reports there are quite a few puppy drum in the surf, and some big ones have been taken in Hatteras
inlet.
I'LL BE LOOKING forward to seeing my old friends Capts. Ernal and Bill Foster and Capt. OHver
O'Neal. If we’re lucky enough to get out their Albatross boats maybe we'll find some red drum on top, so that we can sight cast to them. If not, there’s always a chance to catch them in the surf. At any rate we’ll be with Our old friends Hal and Ray Gray at the Atlantic View Hotel for a week on the
Outer Boaka. We may Wind up fishing the Ocracoke beach or the shoals off Portsmouth bland with Capt. Thurston Gasklll, on hb boat the "South Wind". THAT'S WHAT make* the trip so Interesting - every year is different, and the challenge is always there, and it's a different tale each time.
Ran Tompkins, <* the Villas, who runs the "RonEll", was in, and said the stripers aren’t doing much in the rips yet. Maybe they'll be late again tike last year, but rather than take a chance, you better get a supply of those pencilsized eels ready for the winter striper Ashing. They could start biting any day
