Some Won with Less than Half
I^st week's Presidential Election is history, and everybody knows by now who the winners were, but there are still some interesting facts about Election '80 that can only come when the final official coi)nty election returns are tabulated and certified which happened Monday: •Of the 48,053 persons registered to vote Nov. 4, a total of 39,541 cast ballots, including absentees, according to Deputy County Clerk Diane Rudolph. That's a voter turnout of 82 per cent, not bad when the nationwide average wasunder54percent. •Of the 27 major choices on the ballot (the. nine major candidates and Yes or No on nine questions), onjy four were decided by a majority of votes (i.e., 50 per cent or more of the total vote cast): Reagan for President, Hughes for Congress, Sturm for Freeholder, and Yes' to State Question III (extending the senior citizen/disabled property tax deduction to those whose homes are on land they don't
own).
(See the accompanying chart for the order of finish.) •14 Yeses or Nos to questions and 7 candidates received more votes than President Carter.
•The two senior citizen questions were the most popular among the questions with the voters, being among the top vote-getters. One of these referenda — State Question HI —
received more votes than the second of the two successful freeholder candidates. •One candidate won without receiving at (Page 31 Please)

Misinformed or Unjust
by Ed Sherretu I feel compelled to write this letter in response to your editorial last week Practice Makes Perfect. Bet... Knowing both the author and the coach involved as friends, makes this a rather strange task. However, in this case. I truly feel that one friend has been either misinformed or grossly unjust to the other The author knows little or nothing about the Lower Cape
May Regional Football program and the attitudes that the coaches of that program subscribe to. Without this knowledge it is difficult to believe that this author would attempt to evaluate the program without some investigation. At least some discussion with the person he writes about. The author has misquoted Coach Garrison's statement. (Page 31 Please)
