S. CAPE MAY - The mayors of several of the Jersey Cape's southernmoat municipalities are hoping to take to the TV airways as a means of getting some action on the severely eroded sand dune here between Cape May and Cape May Point. Lower Township Mayor Tom Gydesdale, in whose municipality this former town of South Cape May is situated, was scheduled yesterday to contact the Philauc^phia-based TV stations, HIS INTENDED action followed a meeting Monday

among the mayors of the communities involved concerning methods of getting government action on repairing the dune, which was breached and inundated in the Oct. 25 coastal storm. The four municipalities are now open to ocean flooding during even a moderate coastal storm because the protective dune is all but leveled. ACCORDING TO Gydesdale, it was the thought of Mayors Mickey Blomkvest of Cape May and Jack Vasser of West Cape May and himseif that

if the matter could be publicized over TV, it might create public pressure on Washington and/or Trenton to rebuild the dune. Cape May Point Mayor Frank Rutherford Jr. wasn’t able to attend but apparently agrees with the plan. Mr. Clydesdale said Monday his letters requesting assistance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Governor Brendan Byrne and Congressman Bill Hughes have yet to receive replies.
