Searching for Gifted Students
Many Were Minimum Readers

That's s question the Lower C*pe May Regional School District is attempting to answer, apparently for the purpose of establishing a program for such students in the system which includes the txiwer Cape May Regional High School and Richard
M. Tettelman Junior high
school.
IN ITS NOVEMBER newsletter, the Lower Regional Board of Education calls upon parents to fill out a survey and return it to schools superintendent E.R. Keller. The one-page, 18item survey seeks basic information from parents concerning their children.

Such parents are asked to contact Mr. Keller (8*4-3475 ext. 63) purpose of the advisory committee would be to review the district's present activities, ascertain what needs aren't being met, suggest priorities, and report their tindings to the school
board.
‘Nutcracker’ Slated Dec. 7 MAYS LANDING - The Mt. Laurel Regional Ballet Company will present Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" Sunday, Dec. 7. at Atlantic Community College. The performances will begin at 2 and 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Walter E. Edge Hall on the Mays landing campus. THE COMPANY, directed by Lorraine McAdams, will expand to a total of 75 dancers for this presentation of the classic holiday fantasy.

That’s not news, but the overall results were reiterated in the newsletter from the Lower Cape may Regional Board of Education that went out to parents last week. MBS TEST results of the individual freshmen and juniors were released last June with their final report
cards.
The Regional newsletter notes that the information on an individual basis in available for the student’s parents thru the high school guidance office, as are the general results attained by the two grades tested. According to the newsletter: 57th Wedding Anniversary AVALON - Mr. and Mrs. Ch&rles Boetlinger of 24th Street, will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary Dec. 1. The Boettingers have one son and three daughters, 14 • grandchildren and 10 grea t-grandchildren.

The converse means that: THIS YEAR 23l per cent of the Regional freshmen scored at or below the state minimum score in reading; 20.8 per cent scored at or below the state minimum in math. The percentage of the junior class members who scored at or below the state minimum was 10.8 in reading and 13.3 in math.
