Fisher on Board in Chamber, Merchants Tie
by M'Ellen Rowland The Chamber of Commerce has amended its bylaws to elevate the chairman *of the merchant’s committee, presently Jim Fisher of Seashore Home Supply, to executive board status. Chamber president Glenn A. Townley explained the move was made to provide cohesion between the chamber and business owners in the borough. Since the chamber’s main drive is to stimulate the merchants’ interest and cooperation Townley feels this is a positive step in that direction. THE FOLLOWING officers were unanimously elected: Townley, president for hb fifth year; Mary Ann Yockey, first vice president; Jim Fisher, second vice president, and Jan Crego, treasurer. It was also announced at the November meeting that the chamber’s annual "Welcome To Stone Harbor" booklet is in preparation under the supervision of A1 Westhoff, James Owings and Jim Berger with the assistance of executive secretary Dolly Part on. THIS BOOKLET, the most comprehensive directory of churches, merchants, services, social organizations, local ordinances, restaurants and, governing official^ available, should be ready in April. The 17,000
booklets can be obtained, at no cost, from local merchants and at the chamber office, 212 96th St. Other action included a show-of-hands vote indicating approval of the continued practice of making table reservations for groups at future dinner meetings and a consensus approved enlisting support of store owners in maintaining attractive window displays during the winter months and improving maintenance of sidewalk areas during the tourist season.
