took a screen pass from quarterback Rob Haynie for the., two-point conversion and a 8-0 Wildwood lead with 3:58 left in the first quarter. ON THEIR NEXT possession, Lower Cape May wasted no time in evening the score. With a first down on the Wildwood 39-yard line, Tiger quarterback Clark La re (2 for 7 for 61 yards) threw a 31yard strike to tight end Henry Burton. Tom McCann then carried twice down to the one, where Lare sneaked in for the touchdown. Halfback Steve Carty (59 yards) dove in for the tying conversion, knotting the score with 1:00 still left in the period. DESPITE BEING outmanned, the Warrior defense played gallantly, turning back two second quarter Caper threats that were brought about by two interceptions by Tiger safeties Bobby Menz and Chris Simonsen. The Capers couldn't capitalize, however, as linebacker Carlos Ortiz led the Warrior defensive effort with a sack against Lare, dropping him for a 14-yard loss. The Tigers quickly grabbed a hold on the title on their first possession of the second half. Behind the tough running of McGann and Carty, the Capers used over 9‘A minutes to move 56 yards, capping off the drive with a one-yard plunge by junior fullback Mark Lare for a 15-8 lead with 2:26 left in the third period. IN THE FOURTH quarter, the Capers again seemed headed for a score, driving 62 yards to the Wildwood three behind a 24-yard bomb from Mark Lare to Will Streaker. Their scoring effort was stopped, however, as Wildwood linebacker Bemie Glenn picked off a Lare pass attempt in the end-zone and returned it to the five-yard line.
