SWAINTON - Modification of plans to identify where solid waste from within the county will be disposed of for the next 10 years will be the subject of a public hearing by the county Municipal Utilities Authority Dec. 18. The modifications to the solid waste management plan were first to be reviewed by the freeholders. It is hoped that the plan can be forwarded to the state Department of Environmental Protection by the end of the year. STATE GRANTS may be available to perform planning for site selection for solid waste facilities, source separation programs, and transfer station analysis. Authority engineer Charles Norkis

reported that $710,000 will be available for the entire state and that grants from $20,000 to $50,000 can be applied for. On another phase of its work, the MU A has decided to postpone a second appraisal on the former menhaden plant in Rio Grande, the site selected for the Wildwood-Lower Region wastewater treatment plant. The action was taken on advice of John H. Mead, cocounsel, who pointed out that an appraisal now may be outdated by the time of acquisition, which is months away. If federal and state regulatory agencies approve the site, he said, there will be time to secure the appraisal.

Young GOP Organization Forms

A Young Republicans organization has formed in Cape May County and is seeking young men and women of voting age interested in learning about the political process through participation. "The organization will be both educational and social." explains Chuck Guhr Jr., steering committee chairman for the

unit which formed Nov. 4. "We plan to get involved and have fun too." He described the organization as "a concerned group of young people who want a voice in their local, county and national governments." The unit’s first orientation social will be Jan. 8 at a place to be announced.

Word is that In January while many are away in Florida, Wildwood City so Ions will re-introduce the controversial beach fee ordinance previously rejected by the voters. Atlantic City doesn't have a beach fee. 7 • A • ‘ Joe Stamile, city tubthumper, is making the Hof Bran a celebrity hangout. Film star Eddio Albert visited there recently, while Joey Bishop is there so often that Stamile had artist Ed Lanxa point his likeness for the wall gallery of notables. Famous nitery comedian Corbett Monica, who has a hideaway cottage in Sea Isle City, also drops in now and again. • • • ANGLESEA’S Jimmy Kane now has his own harness race horse that will soon be galloping at Liberty Bell. • • • Pharmkist Jerry SpaU, and his wife (who, incidentally is Sonny Schwartz's sister) are so proud of son Dave. As entertainment editor of the Press, he now has a nationally syndicated column as well as columns in the glossy magazine Las Vegas Star. • • • SYLVAN ROSENFELD is thrilled that his longtime impressionist star Dave Michaels has hit the big time as star of the Dave Michaels Revue at New York’s Sheraton Centre. The show features some of the best of Wildwood, like guitarist Bobby Vann and Dawn of Stew Serody Club Rainbow fame. • • • Ex-North Wildwood lifeguard ‘Scotty’ Scottoline is now a wine tender at Caesar’s Regency. Diamond Beach lifeguard Dong Ford r winters in Atabia, where gasoline is if cents a gallon! • • • CREST restaurateur Al Kurtz and wife Mary, a North Wildwood school teacher, are back from the Bahamas where they were mind boggled at breakfast when one of those miniature boxes of cornflakes cost $2.25. What a way to make the pocket-

book go snap, crackle and pop! • • •- Look for an exciting race in the Crest Commission sweepstakes next spring. Rumor hath Dr. Bob Furey and Tom Lewis as potential candidates. • • • THE D'ANTONIO Freres, owners of the Crest's Aqua Motel have acquired the Wildwood Inn. Even though Ramada couldn’t make a winner out of this one, bets are the D’Antonios can. • • • Talerit scouts who lived Wildwood for the 20th Century Fox flick ’Murder on the Pier,’ have temporarily shelved plans for the movie which could have starred 81-year-old Fred Astaire and Lauren Bacall. However, Frank Capra Jr., arrives in the area any minute to film ‘The Player,' the life story of famed card counter Ken Uston who is often seen dancing at Sundance. Ken, ex-San Francisco lad, now lives on the Jersey Shore. He’s the blackjack king seen on Today, Tom Snyder and Dave Hartman shows. He’s banned from all casinos due to his knack for card counting. He's conducted blackjack seminars for Bruce Tempest, owner of Sundance, Living Room Lounge, Wildwood Bowl and the El Coronado. FRANK CANNING. 40year vet of commercial and party .boat fishing, and his wife are back from San Francisco. He awoke during the night in his San Fran hotel to sniff the smell of burning plastic — this only days after the MGM Grand. Happily, the fire was contained without arousing the other guests with less sensitive nostrils. Party boat skipper Ron Robbins tells us the MGty Grand was his favorite*, hotel in Las Vegas. He says windows in LV hotels open

only 6 inches, making suicide or escape impossible. • • • Restaurateur Toml John and his wife are back from Vejgas where they raved about the Boylesque show at Silver Slipper. • • • LEN LEAR writes the scintillating Peep-Le' column in the Philly Journal. His dad owned a Wildwood boardwalk store about 25 years ago. Barrister Charles ‘Hank* James and family are back from a preview of a Colonial Christmas at Williamsburg. • • • Wildwood songbirds Lori Cesar and J.C. Lane are set to serenade Caribbean cruise ship swells for two weeks in January. • • • The Morey Freres brought a breath of fresh air to the Boardwalk with their exciting new pier. However, the Morey Brothers are engaged in a situation with Argentina not unlike the Iran hostage tiff — except in the case of the local leaders, the hostages are three of their finest crated amusement rides. They were being leased to an Argentina fair, and the government has held them for over a year. In fact, the three costly and attractive rides missed Wildwood's best season in 25 years with perfect weather for amusemehts riding. • • • Kudos to hair stylist Joti Mario who vWte customers confined to take care ortiWr cutting, styling et al. Mr. and Mrs. Mort Stocker tipped us off to this good deed. • • • Down yonder for the amusement tycoon’s recent conclave were folks like Fun Pier's Cesar Romero-lookalike Joe Barnes, Merlin Paul and

Helen Coombs. On balmy summer days, as many as 200 charter buses pull into Wildwood with the city collecting $35 per bus. Atlantic City has quite a bonanza too, but there the take is $55 per bus and it's not limited to summertime. For instance, over the four-day Thankstgiving holiday, sqme eOQCanadian charter buses rolled Into A.C. • • • Yaddle Yabokmsky is just one of the many Wildwoodiana enjoying offseason employment thru the A.C.' casinos. He's employed at the newest, Harrah’s.
