Leasing Policies Said Discouraging Industry
by Lisile Frits ERMA — Leasing policies by the county at the airport industrial park here are thwarting the development of light industry in the area, one park tenant charged this week. According to John de la Cretaz of Swisscomatic Inc., Lower Township, the municipality in which the industrial complex is located, should have an or dinance controlling leases. During Monday night's Lower Township committee meeting in Villas, Mr. de la Cretaz questioned the extent the township truly encourages the development of light industry. He feh only lip service is paid and that zoning and leasing policies point otherwise.

Landmark going Condo
IN LOWER TOWNSHIP the industrial park area is a horseshoe-shaped series of lots at the county airport. It is a relatively small area compared to Middle Township, but is an active park and the lots and warehouses aren’t empty. Yet, according to Mr. de la Cretaz, there is a high turnover of businesses. 0 The problem, he feels, lies not in the location or size; the fault is in unrealistic contracts and leasing stipulations. Mr. de la Cretaz’s Swisscomatic Inc., has been located in the industrial park complex for three years. During this time, he has been required to sign three one-year leases for which he may bid a price no sooner than 30 days in advance. At the

by M’ELLEN ROWLAND Avalon — Yet another Jersey Cape landmark would appear to be undergoing a change of life and face lift as the condominium conversion trend continues at the shore. John Millar of Avalon Furniture Co., 20th and Ocean Dr., appeared at the Dec. 4 Borough Council work session here to set the record straight before possible rumors distort facts about the sale of the popular Whitebriar Hotel at 20th St. and the beach. Millar said that he, Robert Gillen and Edward Farren have signed an agreement
of sale with the present owner, Anthony Zurawski of 34 E. 21st St. They hope to make settlement January 17 or 21 for an undisclosed amount. THE HOTEL WILL BE converted to a condominium with two parking spaces available for each unit. The restaurant will be done away with and the space currently used as a bar will be transformed into an entrance way with the addition of an elevator. They intend to add deck space over the present restaurant area and there

Soviets, CG Meet Here
DIAMOND BEACH- A meeting to hopefully iron out differences involving a global problem took place between Soviet and American experts here last week-but the subject was electronics not politics. The gathering of top electronics experts from the USSR and civilian and Coast Guard scientists was at the U S. Coast Guard Electronics Engineers Center here, the nerve center for this country’s Long Range Aids to Navigation (LORAN)
systems.
Purpose of the Dec. 4 meeting was to attempt to gain some knowledge of the Soviet’s radionavigational system and to establish a framework for future contracts snd continuous efforts between the two nations. The cooperation is necessary if each power hopes to reduce interference their

“Such interference degrades the usefulness of the systems, and can. in fact, render some portions unusable." a Center
spokesperson said.
The significance is no small matter, since LORAN is the basis of a worldwide navigational system used by mariners from small boaters to trans oceanic vessel skippers to pinpoint their positions The meeting was highly technical, covering, in the words of one American
technician, these points:
"Coordination of frequency assignments to ensure electromagnetic compa(ability...unificatioq of radiated signal paramters ..investigation of propagation terms in the long-wave band ..compatability of. user equipment
requirements."
