Limit Up On Food Stamps

RIO GRANDE - The county Food Stamp Office announces two program changes effective Jan. 1. The maximum coupon allotment has been raised. A single person with no income will now receive 170 a month in food coupons, compared to $63 prior to January. The amount of food stamps received depends on a household’s size, income and "countable expenses.” The maximum deduction levels have also been raised; this may also create a different coupon allotment.
