STONE HARBOR - The Chamber of Commerce Christmas Party started with champagne and concluded with fireworks. Approximately 150 attended the celebration Dec. 15 at the Holiday Inn. Diamond Beach. Following dinner a Christmas instrumental selection was supplied by Councilman Harry Strohmetz and Ray DeLawrentis. Diane Blum gave a rendition of "Oh Holy Night" and the Stone Harbor School choir, led by Robin Zubko, sang a selection of Christmas carols. , FATHER WESLEY HAKKIN of SI. Mary s Pastor John Spindler of Our Saviour, and Msgr. Vincent Giamarino of St. Chamber’s Gifts Going To Needy AVALON - The Chamber of Commerce held its annual Christmas party last Thursday at the Whitebrier Hotel. In a move to return to the original concept of Christmas, the cltamber decided to forego the usual practice -of exchanging gifts. Instead small gifts and financial donations will be given to a needy family in Avalon. Jane Anne Cunningham and Walt Bobinsky were co-chairmen of this program. The idea was initiated at a recent executive board meeting when members felt that the money spent for small gifts could benefit a family whose Christmas could become a little brighter.

Paul s, told the Christmas Story. Proceeds from the monthly drawing/ were awarded to the Italian Earthquake Relief Fund and this amount was augmented by gifts from winners, notably past president. Jack Fitzpatrick. who won the grand prize. PRESIDENT GLENNTownley. assisted by membership chairman. Pat Fitzpatrick and her husband. Councilman. Jack, brought forth a silver urn containing a facsimile of the mortgage on the

chambers information Center, purchased within the last five years and the mortgage was burned. MAYOR JIM WOOD swore the following officers into service for 1981: president. Glenn Townley, First vice president; Maryann Yockey, second vice president; Jim Fisher, secretary-treasurer; Jan Crego, executive secretary; Dolly Parton, booklet editor; Al Westhoff, assisted by Jim Berger and Jim Owings. Santa Claus arrived to close the evening and distribute gifts.
