He’s Not Turning GOP, Says Leusner

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP Democratic leader Charles M. leusner today denied rumors that he is planning

to turn Republican.

Leusner said. “I am completely satisfied working with our local Democratic organization". I have no reservations with anyone on Township Committee or any person in the local Democratic executive committee. To the contrary. I thoroughly enjoy working with Mayor Do Vico and Mrs. Peterson

and Mr. Walsh".

"AS TO THE rumors of my turning Republican. 1 believe this rumor was sparked by- the recent developments of former freeholder candidate Jerry Livingston, Jerry and I worked very closely in his 1979 Assembly campaign. Because of our association, a rumor started saying that I would follow Jerry and some other county Democrats who were considering turning.

Republican.

However, this is not true. As a political conservative I have been asked by several county Republicans to turn Republican. While I am gratified with their invitations, I have no plans to accept that invitation. My future it with the Middle Democratic organization.
