the percentages were The school F oard is negotiating witM| no less than four employee negotiating units this year, for salary increases provided in. the new budget, which takes effect July 1. THE: BOARD Negotia lions Committee has yet to * sit down with the secretarial staff negotiations unit ; but has met with negotiations units representing the teachers, supportive staff (custo- . dians, aides and cafeteria workers), and the supervisory staff (administrators, principals and supervisory department heads). Neither the school district superintendent nor district secretary are included in the.latter category. While the overall budget is up $469,621, the current expense portion of $4.6 million is up IP* per cent over the old budget figure in this category ,of $4.2 million. It will be this $479,393 increase that has ’ the greatest impact on the amount to be raised by taxation in the new budget. THK CPRRENTjMtpensc portion of the budget contains the lion's ikhare of operating expdaBes including salaries, always the greatest chunk of virtually all school budgets. The capital outlay portion of the budget (which provides funding for improvements other than maintenance to the school buildings or grounds) remains unchanged at $15,000. THE DEBT service portion of the budget is down $9,773 or 3 per cent from the current $307,772 line item; this, as the principal on the district debt is reduced each year. The proposed district budget must be submitted to the County Schools Superintendent by Jan. 26 for his review before the fiscal measure is advertised, the subject of a public hearing at the high school, and voted upon (in April).
