Agriculture Sessions
COURT HOUSE - Delegates from the county Board of Agriculture were among the over 150 delegates representing various farm organizations, agricultural commodities, county boards of agriculture, and the Pomona Granges from every comer of the Garden State, at the 1981 State Agricultural Convention, held yesterday and today in Cherry Hill. The official delegates from Cape May County are George W. Betts of Petersburg and Harold H. Shaw of Marmora, president and vice president respectively of the county Board of Agriculture. The alternates are Louis M. DiLuzio of Tuckahoe and Leslie C. Rea of West Cape
May.
THE STATE Agricultural Convention is annually conducted by the State Board of Agriculture, which is the policy making body for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture. Convention delegates are acting on numerous resolutions and. questions which will give guidance to the State Board of Agriculture and the legislature for the coming
year.
During the convention sessions the delegate body, will also choose two persons to recommend to Governor Byrne for aj>pointment to the State Board of Agriculture for four year terms, and one person to recommend for appointment for a term on the State Fish and Game Council, to represent farmers.
THE THEME OF the 1981 general session at the convention is "Commitment - The Key to New Jersey Agriculture’s Future”. John N. Mac Lbod, Senior County Agricultural Agent, said that a number of county farm leaders and wives are atUmding the two-day convention. MISS GLORIA UNKLE, County 4-H Queen, was feted along with other Agricultural Fair and commodity queens throughout the state at the Delegates Banquet last night. U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey was the guest speaker and his topic was "Energy, Economy, and Waste Disposal: The Washington Perspective”. The Agricultural Convention is a part of the overall State Farmers Week Program. Therd were numerous agriculture and commodity meetings throughout farmers week, which runs through Satur-
