Capers Look For Victories
by David Weinberg Li)wer Cape May warmed up for their Friday night showdown with league leading Pleasantville with a 71-51 romp over Middle Township on Tuesday night. Against the Greyhounds, however, it was a different story as Pleasantville broke open a close game in the second half, outscoring the Capers 26-17 in the final tw*© periods for a 50-38 victory Against the Panthers. Lower overcame their height disadvantage with quickness, spreading out Middle's man-fo-man defense and driving for easy layups. LED BY Kyle Anderson's 18 first half points, the Capers penetrated early and often, upping a 12-6 first quarter lead to a 38-23 halftime advantage, 34 of which came on layups. The Panthers toughened
slightly in the second half as the Capers outscored them 33-28 for their twenty point edge, at the final buzzer ANDERSON FINISHED with 26 points for the Capers, while St^ve Puller backed him up With 13. , Dave Williams led the Panthers with 12 and Herb Jaudonfedded 11. IN FRIDAY'S matchup, the CapWs started out quickly, opening a 7-2 advantage as Greyhound star James Fountain .picked up three early fouls .Pleasantville rallied back behind Jerome Smith and Mark Belton as they combined for 8 first quarter points to force a 10-10 deadlock at the end of the firet period. It was more of the same in the second quarter, the Caper's Anderson shooting six for six from the 'foul stripe, and the Greyhounds using the Smith-Bellon
