tic City where automotive transportation costs no so • expensive DeFulvio believed his coi. .outer service — which would utilize a 41-passenger bus to start — would cost commuters about half what they would otherwise pay (or gasoline for their cars on the lOO-mileper day round trip. HE SAID HE’S already interviewed commutters who are currently carpooling it. "When does'it start!’ is their reaction," he said. . DeFulvio’s plan is to utilize diners off the Garden State Parkway as gathering spots for the bus cohvmuters. He has already driven the proposed roqte, and reports the 50-milAtrip can be made in an bout - , taking into account the 55 mph speed limit and stops at the diner locations. HIS TENTATIVE route would be to leave the municipal terminal at Oak and New Jersey Ave. In Wildwood at 6:30 a.m. and arrive at various stops along Pacific Ave. in Atlantic city in time, for patrons to get to their jobs by 8 a.m. In-county stops would be at diner locations on Rio Grande Blvd, across from Marilyn Manor, Rio Grande; Rt. 9 . in Court
House, the Parkway service area near Seaville, and the Marmora (Exit 25) diner. PATRONS i WOULD drive, or be driven to the nearest'diner, where they would board the bus, and be dropped off on the return evening trip. If the number of passengers from the North Cape May or Villas area warrants, DeFulvio said, the route could be changed so that the bus began from one of those areas instead of Wildwood (meaning that the Wildwood area passengers would have to get a car ride into Rio Grande). CONVERSATIONS he has lead with casino officials had led DeFulvio to believe that the labor market in Ocean and Atlantic counties has been all but exhausted; leaving potential employees for casino or casino-related industries only in Cape May County. Hence the reason for offering the bus services. DeFulvio said he has advised various mayors in the area about the forthcoming service, and that the bus company is in the process of doing the paper work required to get state approval for the transportation system.
