Advisory Unit Eyed By Mayor

VILLAS - Mayor Thomas Clydesdale slated today that he is getting ready to appoint 9 Mayor’s. Advisory Councilior Lower Township. C "Our township has grown to over 17,000 residents and we have a great many different ideas and priorities in the people's minds,” Clydesdale said. "MANY RESIDENTS have good ideas and suggestions, but they never come to light because these people do not attend township committee meetings. I was happy to see the number of people that attended our last meeting, but it took a misunderstanding in reference to what people wanted to bring it about,” the mayor stated. He was referring to the Feb. 9 meeting, attended by over 150 citirens protesting the institution of street lighting districts. "I am in the Town Hall almost everyday, but it still doesn’t get the real feelings of the people to me all the time. I feel that an Advisory Committee serving without pay could help bring ideas and feelings to my office from the general public that l might otherwise miss. THE COMMITTEE should be from various parts of the township and should include senior citizens, business people and community leaders, Clydesdale went on. He is seeking a wieldy committee, of diversified backgrounds and representation. The committee would not only bring new ideas, but could take informal polls to help indicate how the residents and taxpayers feel on new proposals and laws, Clydesdale said. “I would hope that thw advisory committee woufih meet monthly and make; suggestions to me. I wanr to remind the public - this would strictly be an advisory group and they would have no official power in our form of government.”
