by David Weinberg Lower Cape May grabbed nine pins, six of them in the first period, to capture the Cape Atlantic League team title with h 68-0 rout over Wildwood Catholic at Erma last Wednesday. Their \» team’ accomplishments ended there, however, as the third ranked Capers were dealt their fourth loss of the season by Eastern High School, 37-12, in the semifinals of the South Jersey Group Three Sectional Tournament at Overbrook last Saturday. Lower Cape May’s experience was clearly evident against the Crusaders, who are in their t first season of varsity wrestling competition. Indeed, Wildwood Catholic did well, considering that only a few of their grapplers have had any previous wrestling experience. 101 POUND Jim Sharpley started the match with a pin over Pat Dever with 34 seconds left in the first period. After Bill Porter won the 108> pound match by forfeit, brother John Porter scored the second pin of the contest, forcing Chuck Regalbuto to the mat with just 50 second gone in their 115 pound bout. After Crusader captain Lou Scarlata came the closest to victory for Wildwood Catholic, dropping an 8-5 decision in the 129 bout to Caper freshman Sean Brennan, four more

Capers scored pins in the initial period of their bouts. DAVID CRAIG secured the fastest pin of the match with a six point win over Steve Deritis 31 seconds into their 135 pound match. 170 pounder Greg MacDonald was next, winning over Joe Louderback with 19 seconds left in the first period. Fred Fischer added six more points to the Caper total with a first period pin over Ed Dougherty in the 188 pound match, then heavyweight Charles Jasperse closed the match with a pin over Ben Church with' three seconds left in the initial Stan
