COLD SPRING - the news media arid Lower Township officials were given a guided tour of the Historic Cold Spring Village last Saturday morning — an advance look at what will undoubtedly become a major tourist attraction and historic educational center on the Jersey Cape. The grand tour was conducted by Dr. Joseph Salvatore following an explanation of the village by. his wife Anne. Their children, Ricky and Katie, also aide<j in the

SALVATORE and their family are interested in bringing history to life through a faithful restoration of extant buildings which they have collected from throughout the county and nearby the way some people acquire miniatures. I* The village includes 13 historic 18th and islh edntury buildings with diverse histories of their own — from the keystone of the project, the tum-of-the-century Cold Spring Grange, to the Spicer Learning House, believed to be the second oldest house in Cape May
County.
THE GRANGE WILL HOUSE a restaurant on the first floor, while the upstairs Ccompletr with stage) will be available to community groups for meetings or events. Each of the remaining dozen buildings will house an activity and craftspeople represenItgtive of life as it was on the Jersey Cape during the past two centuries. A candlemaker (Joi Clydredale, daughter of township Mayor Tom Clydesdale), and a printer have already come aboard. The search is still on for a blacksmith, calligrapher, potter, and others skilled in an authentic

THE MARMORA HOUSE was actually two structures, joined together by peg and mortise, possibly in the 18th century. The porch Is new although, like the rest of the village, the architectural «tyle of the period was faithfully reproduced.
