WILDWOOD - James L. Billmeyer, president of Marine National bank, termed the grand opening of the bank’s new business loan center and administrative offices at 3200 Pacific Ave., “a great success". He explained that the opening “dramatizes Marine National’s commitment to the regional business community." “WE HAVE AN economic development responsibility to the shore communities,!’ Billmeyer
said, "so our motive in opening the new businesS loan center is to make the whole area a more prosperous and better place to live and work — by making it easier for business people to do business.” The loan center is an element of the bank’s plan to streamline the process business people must go through to receive financial backing or assistance. Services are geared primarily toward, but not limited to, the fishing, tourist, retail and farming

industries. Courses Offered Seniors
MAYS LANDING - Sixty-nine free courses specially designed for senior adults will be offered by Atlantic Community College, beginning March 16, at 33 locations in Atlantic and Cape May counties. The, courses, part of ACC’s SAGES (Senior Adults Gaining Education and Stimulation) program, will meet once a week for eight weeks. They do not carry college credit. ATLANTIC AND Cape May County residents 60 and older can enroll in the courses by going to the first class meeting the week of March 16. They should bring with them either their ACC SAGES membership cards or their Social Security numbers. 1 More than 7,800 persons are ACC SAGES members, and nearly 1,600 enrolled in the so-called "neighborhood" courses when they were offered last fall. AVALON - Joseph A. Brophy Jr., former general manager of the Whitebrier Hotel has been selected to appear in this year’s edition of Who’s Who in Business and Finance. Brophy is now associated with Mill Gill Inc. of the borough. Brophy’s selection was based on his leadership at the Whitebrier. For the past four years, the Whitebrier has been recognized as one of the Top 300 Performers by Lodging Magazine. This publication rates hotels throughout the United States and Canada. Joe has been very instrumental in the Whitebrier’s success as the creator of its Sunday brunch, its Friday night seafood buffets and its Monday night international buffets. BROPHY HAS ALSO been very active in the community. He is a member of the Stone Harbor Lions Club. He is a past trustee of the Avalon
Chamber of Commerce, where he presently serves as the secretary-treasurer. He is also chairman of the directory committee for the past two years and is now serving as cochairman of the Philly Sports weekend committee. He is a guest lecturer at the county Vo-Tech, where he often teaches courses on food and beverage marfagement. Joe is a 1972 graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD, where he was a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges. He has also written several articles for local newspapers. One entitled “On the Street Where He lived There is Silence” was subsequently re-published by several state and national magazines for kidney patients. The article dealt with the life and death of his father on a kidney machine. Brophy lives in South Seaville with his wife Barbara and daughter Kelly.
