School district secretary Jane Turkington reports that three candiates from Lower Township and three from Cape May City are seeking to fill the two seats up for grabs from each of these municipalities. West Cape May’s one seat on the nine-member board is also to be Tilled this year, fbut only one candidate, Mirjam E. Reeves of Broadway, has applied for the threeyear position. IN LOWER TOWNSHIP, incumbent board president Robert M. -Bonner of the Villas is being challenged by Cold Spring resident Ruth T. Billmeyer and BayWood Park resident Arlene MacDonald. The two winners wil serve three-year terms. Incumbent Robert Matthews of Lower Township had filed but later withdrew his nominating petition. The race in Cape May City is for two seats, both to -be filled for one-year unexpired terms. Last year Stephen Todd and Arthur Craig were appointed to fill the seats previously held by Harry Gilbert and Mildred Blomkvest. Mr.

Craig is not seeking reelection. INCUMBENT Stephen Todd is being challenged by two newcomers. They are Stephen Peckiconis and W.E. (Ed) Hutchinson, both of North St. Stephen Wise of Cape May also withdrew his., nominating position after having filed earlier. One will

Red Cross Disaster Aid Told

COURT HOUSE - Under its congressional mandate, the American Red Cross is charged with the responsibility of helping people to be prepared for and cope with emergencies resulting from natural or man-made disasters. ••LAST YEAR, five volunteers responded to four disasters in the county, More than 50 victims were affected, and 1,200 was spent providing these people with temporary shelter, food, clothing, medical and nursing care, and counseling,” she said. Ail Red Cross disaster services are free. They are an outright gift to disaster victims through contributions made to the Red

Cross. \ President Reagan recently signed a declaration designating March as Red Cross Month. •WE ARE TAKING this opportunity to let the community know about the services and volunteer opportunities that are available at Red Cross,” Mrs. Bart added. "This year, the American Red Cross is celebrating its centennial. As we move forward into our second century of service, Red Cross volunteers will continue the tradition of helping their neighbors avoid emergencies, prepare for those that cannot be avoided and cope with those that do occur."
