Reporter For Herald & Lantern

Bob Shiles of Glass boro has joined the staff of the Cape May County Herald and the Lower Township Lantern, it was announced this week by John Andrus, editor of the Seawave Corp. publications. Mr. Shiles, 24, has a broad experience in community news reporting, having served as a correspondent on a number of weekly newspapers. Most recently he was with radio station WMVB in Millville where his duties included traffic manager and promotional director in addition to some news writing. THE NEWSPAPER editor pointed to Mr. Shiles* writing abilities and community news experience. “He brings to the. Herald and the Lantern qualities of local news coverage and a dedication to accurate reporting on issues vital to the public understanding of local government and citizenship," Mr. Ahdrus said. Mr. Shiles has a background in reporting on municipal government from bofl) the rural and city perspective, having covered municipal utility authorities, county freeholders, boards of education, planning boards, zoning boards of adjustment and municipal governing bodies in more than 15 municipalities, primarily in Gloucester County. HIS NEWSPAPER experience includes writing for the Swedes boro News, Glassboro Enterprise, Pitman Review, News Report in Washington Township and Observer in Blackwood. A graduate of Albright College in Reading, Pa. and Glassboro State College, Mr. Shiles holds bachelor degrees in political science and com munications. He has also worked as a substitute teacher with K thru 12 experience in several school districts throughout Gloucester County. HE ENJOYS nature photography, crosscountry skiing, long distance running, singing and drama. Mr. Shiles has technical and acting experience with community threate groups, especially musicals, comedies and children’s theatre. He has also been an assistant church organist. He is currently living in North Wildwood.
