AMONG THE Stone Harborlighta who have return ed from Florida or are on their way home are Margnerlte Klotibncher and Bill and Jane and Carey Bow who took a pad together on Palm Beach Shore* at the south end of Singer Island. They were entertained at dihner, in Boca, by Doris & Tom Mlt^iHI. Buss & Becky Balleyihid Arnold & Helen Morris. The foursome reciprocated by taking their hosts out for lunch and a three hour cruise on a 42 ft. yacht. (Now that’s the way to eat in our estimation.)

They saw Marie and/Mr. Mayor) Jim Wood while there also. They’re suntanned and sassy and we’re cold and sulky- • • • WE HAVEN’T met anyone who doesn’t think highly of Dave llaberle. Avalon’s director of Recreation Police Chief Joe Foley is unstinting of his praise of Dave for giving the younger gneration varied and interesting programs as an alternative to Dullsville during the winter months. Dave has incorporated interests tailored to meet the needs of all age groups:

With Joannie’s inherent love of this island, we’ll bet the Krumbhaars will again be in residence in Stone Harbor within two years.

SPEAKING OF inflation, and who isn’t? We wi chatting with Mayor] Ellsworth Armacost, short time ago when he told us of purchasing Avalon's first ambulance. With the help of Jack Woifington. he bought a top-of-the-line Cadillac ambulance when he became mayor, for $650 and it was manned by the Public Works Dept. This has been abandoned due to new state requirements and the municipality’s need for a new ambulance for the hightly-trained Rescue Squad. This time the lifesaving conveyance will cost $65,000!

AS CITIZENS we are all falling down on the job! We have been attending council meetings in both Stone Harbor and Avalon and encounter the same five or six concerned residents at each. Many times we’ve heard the requests of the governing bodies for greater input from their constituents. Don’t you have the time? Don’t you care? Are you really willing to let a small humber of concerned citizens try to represent your viewpoint? We've heard matoy grumbles from many quarters yet we rarely see the complaintants at the meetings. Why don’t you 'show up at the meetings and help the officials that you have elected fulfill your desires?

Have you made full use of the Cape May County ' Library Assoc? We’ll bet

the Stone Harbor branch has the prettiest librarian, (get set for some fancy aliteration), she is Paly Pitu from Pittsburgh, Pa. Paty (pronounced Patty) has been our librarian for 11 years and used to live in Stone Harbor. Now, she and her husband live in Cape May Court House. Her hobby is running and she keeps in practice three days a week. She conducts an arts and crafts class for 3-5 year oldcrs once a week at the library. The class is limited to eight pupils and runs from Oct. thru May and are oversubscribed early. This is not surprising considering the teacher’s personality and gift for innovation.
