COLD SPRING - An 8 per cent increase in the number of pupils attending the Lower Township Elementary School system is anticipated in the school ' year beginning next fall According to the district’s proposed school budget for the 1981-82! sqjne 1,300 students arc expected for the next'School year, an increase of §6 over the 1.204 pupils enrolled as of last September. ENROLLMENT estimates are included as a part of all school district budgets. The figures in the latest budget show there was an actual 2 per cent decline in the number of students between September 1979 and this past fall—from 1,231 down to the 1,204 figure, a drop of 27 students. THE NEW SCHOOL

budget, — which comes up for public hearing and final adoption during a school board meeting 8 p m March 16 in Consolidated School audiforium—calls for a tax levy to totaling $2,574,893, and increase of $245,794. or 10 5 per cent (The tax levy figures were previously reported incorrectly because only the cur rent expense figures were taken into consideration without the tax levies for capital outlay and debt ser vice). On a per pupil basis, fhe proposed budget would require $1,961 in local taxes for each student, compared to a figure of $1,934 last year. Total appropriations in the proposed budget are $3,395,062, up $231,157 or 7 percent.
