CAPE MAY’S represented at The White House 1 — artistically, that is. It all happened when former artist-in-residence of the Cape May County Art League, Edward <Ne<|) Hergelroth, was asked to a painting of a certain home in Kennebunk Port, Me. Artist Hergelroth was, in fact, painting the house of Vice President* George Bush as a “victory present" from his friend, the acquaintance who commissioned Ned to do the honors. As it turned out, the Vice President liked the picture so well he wanted to thank the artist himself. And this he did via phone call. MR. HERGELROTH was recovering from a gall bladder operation when suddenly around 11 p.m. the phone rang, and Mr. Vice President himself was ever so cheerful and thankful. He loved the painting, and it now is on the wall of his bedroom right in the executive Vic^ President residence in Washington, D.C.... Incidently, Ned and

Katherine Hergelroth now reside in Cape Neddick, Me., which is close to Kennchunk Port. • • • THE RESCUE SQUAD Dance Review is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at Convention Hall. nis Gub. Mrs. Brown and Mr. Farmer wish to thank all their friends who responded with a wealth of flowers, cards and telephone calls. The Browns and Mr. Farmer are usually helping others, and they’ve been doing it all for ever so many years. Whenever a storm hits the West Cape May area, they’re always ‘on the scene’ helping, bringing food where it’s needed and just checking to see that all are comfortable. Out of all this, they've set up the West Cape May Red Cross Auxiliary, and indeed plaudits are in order.

THE LARGEST toy store ever in these parts is going to be right on the Mall in Cape May. Previously, it was known as the Victorian Card Shop, but within a couple weeks you’ll be able to see the widest assortment of stuffed animal toys, dolls, games — anything that’s different in the way of toys and more toys!

THE NOSTAGLIA SHOP on the Mall has many charming articles — mostly old and for collectors too. There are old ice-cream parlor ehairs, dishes, odd pieces of furniture, dolls, some jewelry — and lots of smiles from storeperson Betty Campbell. Their recent contribution to the Cape May Squad as a door prize to one of their functions, was a milk-glass oldtime "chicken dish.”
