Congressman Bill Hughes was the keynote speaker, and the busy Representative made a s^Sal effort to be at this affair. VILLAS — Registration for Senior League Baseball and the Lower Township “Tee’’ Ball League have been scheduled at the Recreation Center on Bayshore Road here. Senior League Baseball registration will be held beginning at noon, Saturday. THE LEAGUE IS open to yogths between the ages of
13 and 15 who are not 16 before Aug. 1. All youths who played las^ear must sign up again Ui^ear and show proof of age. Anyone interested in coaching Senior League Baseball is asked to please call the Recreation Center at 886-7880. Sign ups for the "Tee" Ball League will be from noon to 4 p.m. Satuniay. This league is open to boys and girls from 7 to 9 years old, "wfio are residents} of Lower Township, they must be 7 years of age before May 1 of this year. Anyone signing up for this league must bring a birth certificate or I other proof of age with them.
Cape Takes Avalon Tourney The Cape May Civic Affairs Boys Basketball .Team recently captured Avalons Seventh and Eighth Grade Tournament. Cape May, in its first game, stunned, Vineland Memorial 43-34, winners of the Cape May Kiwanis Tourney one week later. EGG HARBOR TWP. was the Capers’ next victim, of 57-27, as Brian Jones poured in 24 points and Pat Holden, tournament MVP, tallied 18 points. in the championship i game Cape May squared off against host Avalon Recreation before an exhuberant hometown fcrowd I AFTER CAPE MAY’* big man, Brian Jones (11 points) got into early foul trouble, Pat Holden and Sean Magee carried the load enroute to a hardfought 49-42 victory and with it the championship. Joining Holden on the alltourney team were teammates Brian Jones and Sean Magee along with Avalon's Peter and R.J. Soens.
