STONE HARBOR’S aux iliary of the Lions Club (Sea Lions) will hold its annual benefit luncheon, fashion shot? and an original and moat entertaining floor show on Thursday, May 14 at the Golden Eagle Inn, Beach Ave. in Cape May. Happy hour begins at 11 a.m. with lunch at noon. With an early start like that, we wouldn't be too surprised if some of the Lion’s turned out to supervise the writing of checks by their respective spouses after they’ve seen the tempting array of summer finery presented by Moana’s of Philadelphia. We missed it last year, but after hearing about the fun, great door prices and the neat excuse (If we’ve spent too much) US tell our husbands," but dear, its a benefit for the Helen L.

Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children, and another tax deduction," we don’t Intend to miss it this year. It’s ,the perfect rationalization for getting some new glad rags sq let’s go gals, go. Call Jean Weethoff 368-6981 for reservations. * • • • WE DON’T knoy about you, and we have very few valuables, but we were so impressed by the two talks we heard by Det/Sgt. Anthony J. SoU« of Stone Harbor that we signed up for the engraving procedure which is offered by all the municipalities in our area. The State Crime Prevention Unit has loaned us a 28-foot van equippe<yjdth various locks, literdme, etc. to help prevent the burglarizing of our homes and it is tentatively set for April 25 & 26 to be parked at 80th St. and Second Ave. for inspection by residents of Avalon and Stone Harbor. The exact times and dates will be advertised later so watch for them. If for any reason you feel the need to contact bur local crime prevention unit, dial 465-7111. • • • WE ARE currently excited because our daughter, Maris Clement, is about to "break a leg", again (we hope). Maris — who had more than a year’s run in the Broadway musical 20th Century Limited and actually earned money for singing to Rock Hudson — is about to go through the chills and thrills of another opening on Broadway. A new musical David Copperfield with book, music and lyrics by Al Kasha and Joel HirsAtbaum. produced by Mike Merrick and Don Gregory with Alan Jay Lerner (of My Fair Lady fame) helping has had a four week tryout in St. Louis and will probably open in New York on April

12.

M My daughter the actress" called last night to tell us to forget about opening night, so we’U probably see it and, hopefully her later, with the Norm Parks of Moores town, who spend

as much time as they can in Stone Harbor. > • • • . EVERYBODY’S COMING home from the warmer climes. Avalon’s Boro Council Pres., Philip Jndyski returned from Singer Island, Fla. with an enviable tan, and council proceedings now look most official with Mayor Ellsworth Armieost back on the dais after a short visit to his beautiful home in Tamarac, Ft. Lauder-

dale.

Mr. Mayor, who is one of the most generous persons we know, got a neat surprise this year, he had loaned his home to four dear friends— when he got there he found they had installed an electric dishwasher as a token of appreciation. Now that’s what we think is a nifty token.

DICK & TED OWENS of 10905 Second Ave. are celebrating a month full of anniversaries. Dick observed his 78th birthday on April 3rd, Ted will be blowing candles out on April 17th, when she reaches (would you believe?) 74, and they’ll celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary on the 26. They are both "younger than springtime" and the world's a nicer place because they found each other.

EACH RECOUNTING ol a story is always

magnified. We heard, with alarm, the other night that Marguerite Klotiburcher (Mrs. William of 96th St.) had fallen from a ladder and broken her leg. When we called to see if there was any way we could help, shw laughed heartily and said "oh, with each phone call the story gets worse. I was painting on a small atepladder when It collapsed, I sprained my ankle slightly and have a small bruise." Good thing we didn’t print this story as it was related to us — when we phoned we could hear Bill yelling in the background. Seems he is boss painter and, like the person we know best, Marguerite gets the close-to-the ground jobs or the delight of repainting multi-pane windows. My husband’s favorite unfunny is to say "I keep M’Ellen very happy by giving her a sable every year — a sash brush.” (that sound you don’t hear is your columnists laughter.) • • • AFTER ATTENDING council meetings in two municipalities we find increasing disrespect for the manner in which our questions or problems are mishandled or ignored in Trenton. Didn’t they get the pitch when we voted, almost unanimously, to secede from North Jersey, or are we to remain poor (but paying) relatives forever?
