City Sponsors Beachcomber Shell Game
OCEAN CITY - You don’t have to retreat to some far away, exotic island in the Pacific to become a beachcomber. This city will make you an official beachcomber if you drop off 10 or more sea shells at the Public Relations Office in City Hall. The shells arc tagged with a colorful decal and used as give-aways at City Information Centers. Thousands of persons who visit this resort from the country’s heartland have never had the opportunity to gather shells and welcome them as gifts. THE SHELLS should be large enough to accommodate a two inch decal and be cleaned before delivery. No smelly shells will be accepted. The City’s beachcomber certificate entitles the bearer to all rights and privileges normally accorded city beachcombers, which are zero, zip, zilch. However, the certificates make nice souvenirs and are suitable for framing, laminating or sticking in between the pages of a large book
Egg Hunt April 18
SEA ISLE CITY - The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dealy Field, according to Mayor Dominic Raffa. "There will be prizes and fug for everyone, TSspecially the children between ages 1 to 8, who are the participants," Mayor Raffa said.
Following the show, youngsters will be given bags of jelly beans courtesy of the city. This event will replace the annual Easter Egg scramble held for years but now considered too rough-and-tumble for younger childrtfl. , AT 6:30 EASTER morning, the city will hold its annual Sunrise Services, a non-denominational event at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The facility, which extends over the ocean, provides a picturesque setting for this inspirational program. At approximately 1 p.m., the ‘City’s annual Easter fashion parade begins on the Boardwalk with a reviewing stand located in front of the Music Pier. .Judges will award prizes to best dressed in the following. categories: Family, Couples, Man, Woman and Children. The event is sponsored jointly by the City and Chamber of Commerce and directed by Jack Newman. Laurie Berchtold, former Miss New Jersey, will be mistress of ceremonies. William Sackett, big band leader whose group will perform in the city this summer, ,wili be a special guest and sing several songs from the reviewing
stand
