formula for the revenue it produces "IT 18. IN my' judgment,” Sen Parker continued, "the height of unfairness and inequality to dramatically alter the method by which the tax revenue is distributed. If the citizens of Uppter Township are willing to live with the inconvenience involved in having a large generating facility in their community, they should benefit frofn their willingness by receiving the tax revenue from that plant" Mayor Migliaccio has contacted the leading candidates for Governor in both parties to seek their stands on the gross receipts and franchise tax issue. "THIS 18 TOO important an issue for Upper Township," Migliaccio

said, "and I want to see all of the candidates take a stand on the issue. We here in Upper Township, want a friend in the governor’s mansion, and I hope that all candidates will tell the rpSidents of Upper Township where they stand We have too much at stake. The gross receipts tax and the franchise tax is the tax paid Jby utilities to the state and the municipalities in lieu of real estate taxes. These taxes, due mainly to the presence of The Atlantic Electric Generating Plant in Beesley’s Point, cause Upper Township to levy no local purpose tax. Exercises For New Mothers
