LEFT LANE CLOSED barriers went up last week along the soutbound lane of Rt. 109 Just north of the Cape May Canal Bridge In Cold Spring. Long-awaited work to improved the dange/ous bridge approach intersection with Ocean lliway began just before Easter and is scheduled to be completed by early June. Re-channeling and traffic lights are included in the ISOO.tWO project.
Neighborhood Survey Set For City Area
CAPE MAY - Paul Andrus, Director of Community Development for the city has announced that a "Neighborhood Survey" will be conducted in the city’s designated Target Neighborhood. The “Neighborhood Survey”, which has been supplied by the state Department of Community Affairs — Bureau of Neighborhood Preservation, consists of 40 questions thatyvill be utilized to obtain a clear understanding of the economic and social aspects of the neighborhood from .its residents. All answers will he kept in strict confidence. FIVE MEMBERS of the Neighborhood Organization will conduct the survey on a daily basis, in order that information may he obtained from seasonal residents. They will begin at 10 a m. and continue throughout the day, working as late as 8 p.m. The
estimated date of completion is May 2. THE FIVE RESIDENT surveyors are: Emily Dempsey, Mary Hand, Grace Lewis, James Souder and Kay Wedul. They will be identified by a Letter of Introduction, and an identification card. THE AREA TO BE surveyed extends from the west side of Madison Ave. to the east side of Franklin St., and from the north side of Columbia Ave. to the north'Side of Lafayette St. The area also includes both sides of St. John, Broad, Elmira and Bank Sts., and the north side of Lafayette St. from Franklin to Jackson St. Residents having ques tions concerning the survey should contact the Community Development Office. 884-8411, Ext. 38, or a member of the Neighborhood Survey team.
Workshops On Asthma
SOMERS POI\T - Family Asthma Workshops scheduled for 7:30 to 9 p.m., five consecutive Wednesdays, begin tonight at Shore Memorial Hospital. The workshops are sponsored by the American Lung Associa-
tion.
A registration fee is re■quired. Advance registrations may be made by calling Mrs. Martha fcrawford at Shore Memorial Hospital. 653-3503, or the American Lung Associa-
tion at 561-8700. Registrations will also be accepted at the first meeting. Scheduled speakers include Lancia I^aird, program consultant for the American Lung Association, and physicians. At the first four sessions, family mertibers will learn a variety of techniques helpful in coping with asthma. . a chronic childhood disease Children are invited to attend the fifth session along with
