COURT HOUSE - The recent county meeting of the American Legion Executive Committee held at the Thurston-Elmer Wood Post 198 here was the occassion of the annual visitation to Cape May County by American Legion Department Cmdr. Martin T. Monroe, accompanied by his staff of officers. Highlighting the meeting was the presentation Of the following awards: To Gerald Thornton, a framed citation in recognition of his services in pioneering the establishment of the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery; to James C.

Brooker as the Legionaire of the Year; To County Chairman John H. Wickert, for leading the county to the top spot in state membership standing for the year ending 1900. ALSO. THERE WAS a framed certificate and a 150 Saving Bond presented to Ruth Ann Kanady, the winner of the 5th district American Legion Oratorial Contest. The meeting concluded with an address by Cmdr. Monroe stressing the good work carried on by the American Legion throughout the state and nation and its efforts to secure’ the rights of veterans.

Sorority Hosting Jump-A-Thon

CAPE MAY - Delta Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will be the hostess this year of the 2nd annual Jump-A-Thon for the American Heart Fund. This year the event will take place Saturday in the Mall, with children and adults of all ages participating. Team members who will be Jumping are

coming around now for pledges. Delta Lambda members are also collecting for Daisy Day, May 9, throughout Cape May County. Each year Delta Lambda supports The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia by helping with Daisy Day.
