Celebration Of ‘Age In Action’ Set Charity Appeal Rolling

CAPE MAY - The Rt Rtv John M. AIMn, presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, has designated this Sunday as '•Celebration of Age in Action Sunday." in keeping with a resolution adopted by the fifith Central Convention, The Church of the Advent, Franklin and Washington Sts . has been chosen as the model church in this effort and will con duct a celebration Sunday to recognize the unique contributions to our com mon life of each generation of persons who make up the church THE OBSERVANCE will begin with a Eucharist at 10 a m . with the Rev John Ahem Schultz, rector of the Church of the Advent from 1W9 to 1953, as preacher It was during the tenure' of Father Schultz that the AcL vent was moved from the

building now called the Welcome Center, to its pre sent location, then known as St. John Chapel. Following the Eucharist a brunch will be served in the Parish Hall Parishioners of the Church of the Advent are asked to lend any old pictures, letters, records, artifacts and other memorabilia, taken frorh their holhes, which will express their memories. These items will be displayed in the church Parish Hall on the day of the celebration. possible. After the brunch, Wade Cooper, church organist, will conduct an old fashioned hymn sing in the church. As -another part of the celebration, SAGES, senior students participating in a tuition free educational program provided by the AtlpRUc Community College, will present a fashion show in the Parish Hall at 11:30 a m. Thursday, May 7.

IN CAPE MAY County, these programs include services at Victorian Towers for the elderly residents, as well as for senior citizens in the community who participate in activities sponsored by and held at this complex. County residents may also take advantage of the programs conducted by the county Social Services Office, on Route 9 in Burleight. Counseling, outreach, emergency aid and drug and alcohol workshops are some of the services available to people.

THE SECOND PHASE of the 1981 Appeal was inaugurated Easter Sunday, with the announcement of the Special Gifts solicitation. Under this program, families or individuals who donate $100 or more are recognized as Special Gifts contributors. Volunteer teams from each parish in the Diocese personally visit those invited to join this special giving phase, which has been a cornerstone in funding the charitable works of the House of Charity. MAYOR MUZIANI also noted that the third and most far-reaching segment of the appeal, the general phase, is already underway with informational literature being mailed to all parishioners in the Diocese of Camden. Phase three is officially inaugurated on Charity Sunday, May 3. The goal of the 1981 Appeal is $1,375,000.

ERMA — Rev. Ernest Hinson and family will be coming to pastor the Church of the Nazarene’, starting Sunday. The Hinsons are moving from AUoway, where they have pastored at the AUoway Church of the Nazarene for two years. Rev. Hinson was born in

Nashville, FA. He attended Trevecca Nazarene College; where he graduated in 1673 with a AB degree in Religion. He graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO., with a Master's Degree in Theology. Rev. Hinson will be ordained at the Nazarene District assembly on May 7.
