‘Learning’s Run’ Topic Of Lecture

CAPE MAY - The third in the County Art League’s series of lectures will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the League galleries, located at 1050 Washington St. The series is open to the public. Jack Aprill of Swalnton

will be the speaker. He will discuss the gardens at "Learning’s Run” by his home on Shore Road and will illustrate his talk with his collection of slides showing the gardens. Discussing how this project came about, be will go into the process of creating the gardens. One of the most interesting stops in "Learning Run" is a replica of a pioneer county farm. APRILL WILL ALSO discuss the "Christopher Learning House,” the old Cape May County home where he and Mrs. Aprill make their residence. It

was built In the early 1700’s by Christopher Learning, a whaler from New England. The cedar clapboard siding is covered with plaster and the roof is of cedar shakes. Floors are of pine. The 12 by 12 oak posts of the house rest on large ballast^ rocks, providing air space that has kept this wellconstructed house in perfect condition. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the talk. Succeeding lectures will be held by the Art League at 8 p.m. May 21 and June 4 and 18, all Thursday nights.
