Hospital Workshop On Asthma

Physicians and physical education instructors are among the guest speakers to be featured. Children are invited to attend the final session with their parents. SOMERS POINTr - A * Family Asthma Workshop is being held at Shore Memorial Hospital beginning April 22 and continuing through May 5. The workshops, scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. on five consecutive Wednesdays, are sponsored by the American Lung Association of South Jersey, with Laneta Laird the program consultant. At the sessions, parents of children with asthma will be introduced to a variety of techniques which are helpful in coping with the chronic childhood disease. Agents which trigger asthmatic episodes will be discussed and workshop participants will learn to prevent many asthma attacks, and how to manage those that do occur. ofHER TOPICS ON the schedule include: emotional aspects, proper medication, drainage techniques, breathing exercises and percussion.
