Billie SeUers, told chamber guests this was the first year Stone Harbor had entered the competition, with two teams. They chose Windy-Cool Run and Emotionally Speaking. THE FIRST requires the entrants to design and construct a vehicle which will carry one member of the team as far and as straight .as possible, to be powered ~ by two 20-inch wibdow fans at the starting line of an 8-inch high ramp and stay within a 9-inch boundary line. Pupils are permiteed to spend up to. but not exceeding, $15 for materials. The local team used three^j bicycle wheels and a f piece of plywood in the construction of their conveyance. After much experimentation, they found one team member lying face down, backwards and looking under the vehicle gave them maximum speed. They won first place, traveUing 904 ft. The only thing that stopped they was the wall at the far end of the gym. ‘"They exceeded all other entries by almost
