ERMA - The Lower Cape May Regional School District has filed charges against a 19-year-old Cold Spring girl who allegedly drove her car around the high school athletic field, tearing up sod and causing $500 worth of damage. Carolee Schick of the 600 block of Petticoat Lane is being charge with the disorderly person offense of committing an act of criminal mischief. A hearing is to be held in the Lower Township Municipal Court on May 18. "IT'S PROBABLY the greatest amount of damage ever committed at the school,” superintendent Ephraim Keller told the Board of Education last week.

According to the superintendent, numerous areas of the school's athletic field were damaged, the most severe destruction taking place in the section utilized by the varsity baseball team. *i THE INCIDENT took place on April 15 about 12:50 a m. Ms. Schick was observed by one of the school’s night watchmen as she allegedly drove her car numerous times around the athletic field. "She must have made at least nine spins," Mr. Keller said. School officials are seeking the most severe penalty possible for this offease. They hope that this will discourage others from committing similar acts.
