Raise Over $2,800 for MS
WILDWOOD - 100 students from St. Ann's School here were awarded prizes, April 27 during an awards ceremony for their part in the annual MS Read A-Thon. More than Ji,824 was raised by the pupils for MS research and patient services, according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Tricia Ricco. who raised almost,$302 and read 10 books, was declared the Most Valuable Player in the school’s Read-a Thon. Others receiving trophies (and the amounts raised) included Maria Rayauskas
($319), Michelle Moore ($287), Elana Libofsky ($278), Sheryl Libofsky ($193), Sheree Chiarella ($126), Michael Chiarella ($103), and Shannon Macomber ($103^ All these students will attend the Celebrity All-Star Party in June in Philadelphia because they raised over $100 each. In addition, all received a Ronald McDonald Reading certificate and a.coupon for a hambuj-ger and french fries plus admission for amusemept rides at Clementon Lake Park.

CAPE MAY - The final meeting of the Art Department of the Women’s Community Club will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the studio of Mrs. Robert Ridpath of Cold Springs. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Charles Kalp. Her subject will be “Romantic Moments in Old Cape May.’’ Mrs. Kalp, a local writer and resident of Cape May, has housed several Old Cape May founding families. She will review their history and contributions to the city’s Victorian Era Senior Salute AVALON - Mayor Ellsworth Armacost has proclaimed May as Older Americans Month, and has called upon all citizens and all agencies “to work together to make it possible for our revered elders to contribute their experience, expertise, and knowledge to the betterment of our community."

CAPE MAY - Ten classes from the Elementary School assisted the city Shade Tree Commission in planting, two trees, a flowering cherry and a flowering crab, in observance of Arbor Day. Mrs. Slack’s first grade, Mrs. Hassay’s first grade, Mrs. Taylor’s second grade, Mrs. Stahl’s second grade. Miss Woturski's third grade, Mrs. Craig’s
third grade, Mrs. Starr’s fourth grade, Mr. McCarty’s fourth grade, Mrs. Carter’s sixth grade, and Mrs. Pullman’s sixth grade participated in the ceremony. Fred Coldren, city manager, was on hand to address the students on the importance of the day and commend their support and interest in their community surroundings.
