Girl Scouts Hiking For Camp Fees v Seniors Have Casino Trip

Jackson u M |* Feted On Retirement BURLEIGH — James Little and Marjorie Jackson were congratulated by their peers for more than 14 years of combined service to the Middle Township School district during the annual recognition dinner recently at the Golf and Country Club here. Mr. Little is retiring after 7M* years of service as a bus driver and driver training instructor, while Ms. Jackson was recognized for her contribution over the past 7 years as supervisor of transportation. (Not available for a picture was Raymond Hocker, who is retiring after 18 years as Elementary School 3 custodian.)

COURT HOUSE - In conjunction with the Holly Shores Girl Scout Council the Southern Cape May Association of Girl Scouts will be' having a Hike-A-Thon Saturday, May 16, at the County Park here. The money raised by each girl wiU go directly toward her fee for camp — either the association camp, in which volunteers take 200 girls to camp for 3 nights for $20 each, or to resident camp, which is run b>\ Holly Shores Girl Scout Council. i WILL be go-

ing around to get as many sponsors as possible. The adult leaders will also be getting sponsors. Girls not going to camp and adults may put- their money towards the repair of the swimming pool at one of the camps, the campership fund (which gives assistance to needy girls so they can go to camp) and to wider opportunities (national and international activities). The association has 530 girls and 130 adults from Cape May Point north to Avalon and west to Wood-

bine. It is the largest association in the Holly Shores Council, having 33 troops. Civic organizations or businesses that would like to become involved, are asked to contact Joan Koeck at 886-0267.

CAPE MAY-Mrs. Anne MAgee, executive director of the county Visiting Homemakers Service, was the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Senior Citizens Club in the Victorian Towers

auditorium.

The dub enjoyed a

casino trip to Atlantic City April 23 and is planning another for this month. The next club meeting will be

next Tuesday.

Jane Franks and Michael Conforto are the winners in the Lower Cape Optimistsponsored contest, according to event chairman, E.

Contestants from Lower Cape May Regional, Tietelman junior high and St. Raymonds junior high

paYticipated.

Both winners are students at St. Raymonds. Jane 13 is from Cape May Point, and Michael, 12, is a Rio Grande resident. Judges for the contest were A1 Campbell, an area photo journalist; Eleanor McGonigle, local accountant, and Peter Holt, principal of Lower Township Consolidated School. The winners were presented with medals and savings bonds from Optimist president Gene Rupinski and co-chairman James Sharpley. They now advance to the zone contest and possibly the state and international

competition.
