To Hughes Fox Entreaty.: Support Tax Cut
County Sheriff Beech Fox in a letter to Congressman Bill Hughes has urged the South Jersey legislator to support President Reagan’s full ecoriomic program contained in the Adminlatra-Rf lion’s budget proposal due for debate and vote early next week in the U.S. House of Representatives. Fox opined that the Kemp-Roth tax cut plan is the centerpiece of the President’s pending budget proposal, which the congressman has voted against and spoken out against. Fox unsuccessfully opposed Hughes in last November's general election. A long time supporter the Kemp-Roth three-year tax cut plan, Fox said, is con-
cerned that l&ghes may not have changed his position on the issue, which was hotly debated during the 1980 Congressional Campaign. ••THE TIME has come to heavily consider what the great margin of win for President Reagan meant in the Second* Congressional District and there can be no ^loubt that in terms of the economic issues, as well As others, the vast majority of our citizens expect support on this issue," Fox offered. "I sincerely urge Congressman Hughes to cast his crucial and most critical vote next week in favor of the President’s budget program in next weeks’ debate and voting," Fox wrote.
FOX SAID that although the Congressman called the Kemp-Roth tax cut plan "pie in the sky" economics during last fall's campaign and has voted against the proposed Kemp-Roth legislation consistently since 1977, he hopes that ‘‘we can now all Join
together with President Reagan in a united effort to set aside the disastrous economic policies of the past and support a new program of growth and productivity. Congressman Hughes vote is needed if we are to be successful,” Fox concluded.
