Mini-Bus Disposed Of For $1

STONE HARBOR - Members of Borough Council voted at the recent regular meeting to give the no-longer-needed mini-bus to the Dept, of Education for $1. The bus (original cost was $10,000) which previously ran on 2nd Ave. from 80th to 126th Sts. was used to cut down traffic congestion and alleviate fuel consumption. So few people took advantage of this free transportation that council deemed it an unnecessary expense and discontinued operation of the system. . IN OTHER ACTION it was decided to eliminate the “No Left Turn” sign at 97th St. and 3rd Ave., and to post warning signs on the

large stone groins on the beaches requesting people to 'Please Stay Off the Rocks.” r Ted Pain, borough tax assessor, informed council that the cost of upgrading or replacement of existing signs would be $3,500. The second clean-up week for the borough was set for May 31 to June 7, with pick-up to be made on June 8. Ordinance No. 568, concerning penalty charges for delinquent payment of watervsage, passed on 3rd and final reading, as did ordinance No. £69, dealing with emergency funding of a special appropriation for a reevaluation program of the borough.
