There will be several judgments dependipg on the grades in which the. children are competing There are lots of prizes to be given out and there should be a cor-

responding number of happy kids and proud parents on June 4th. I •£' Mr. Wendorf^gaid that Betty Ridgeway'rrecovery is naturally a slo^proccss but, hopefully, she’ll regain her health in due time and that will be another celebration of a very different kind. We took another moment the principal's time to II him how grateful we are that he can provide the quality of education he

does (remember Stone Harbor's achievement of Olympics of U»e Mind?) without raising the school tax. It is quite extraor- , dinary really! • • • DONE YOUR spftng cleaning yet? Last year we cleared the house of no-longer-used items in good repair sfrid took them to the Helen Diller Home for the Blind at 127 26th St. They were so delighted to get extra pots and pans. COUNCILMAN STEWART GRAY. Jr. of Avalon, presented a nifty idea to the Council and general public last week. He suggested that anyone who is concerned about water conservation stop in at 1st Peoples Bank in Avalon and. for 50c, buy a water conservation kit which among other things, includes a donation to the Leukemia Foundation. We'll bet that by putting the shower device on your outside shower alone, the kit will pay for itself the first hot week in July If you’re not worried about a water shortage you should be. Marc Reisnem’s article in the May copy of Reader s Digest will scare you to death. It applies mainly to shortages in the west but all U S. Taxpayers are being penalized and "Even the wetter, urban East is approaching its day of reckoning...’’ As usual, Stewart Gray's proposal makes sense. Save lives, money and water by getting the kit! • • • HAD A LONG talk with Connie Sand* this week — she called to invite us to the open house reception she and her partner Joe Coliro are' throwing at the Wetlands Institute' to ceMupte the formal opening ai their exciting new Stone Harbor School of Art. They're holding it May 23 at 7:30 p m. — a red-carpet night for everyone since their faculty from New

York will be coming down for the affair. There will be wine and cheese and mirth and melody. The Cape May County Perchance Players' recorder group will supply the music. Connie has been a Stone Ha^borlight for years (she is one of the few people we know who remembers when Mike on his bike was the police force). She wants a goodly group so let’s help her get this enterprising venture off to a spirited start. WE RAN INTO Harvey A. Keeen Jr. of Wife Plumbing & Heating Co. When we mentioned that we hadn’t seen him lately we were shocked to learn he'd had a heart attack and spent his winter vacation at Burdette Tomlin. The doctors told him he’s okay now but shouldn’t work so much. Now that’s exactly like telling an Indianapolis racer to take it slow on the curves. Harvey, please remember, doctors know their trade well too. • • • WATCHING TELEVISION these days has become more interesting for us despite all the reruns. Deborah Knapp, the newscaster on Channel 16, bought and now lives in our old home in Wynnewood, Pa. Edward Binns who had a leading role in the film Patton was the leading elocutionist at Westtown Boarding School when we were there and appears frequently in commercials for an optical firm and we orite arranged a reception for the Duke of Bedford who won't leave home without his American Express Card. Okay, okay, so call me a name dropper.
