More than a score of women educators in Cape May County are active in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, which has members in every state and 12 countries. It is the largest such organization in the world, with 150,000 members, with the purpose of assisting women to pursue advanced education and improve their professional status. AMONG LOCAL members is Harriett Reardon. 4th grade teacher at the Ocean City Intermediate School, who is president of Delta Chapter

of N.J., covering Cumberland, Atlantic and , Cape May Counties. Recently the state executive board permitted Delta to expand and split, forming a new XI Chapter

for Cape May.

Since its founding 50 years ago, Delta Kappa Gamma has given more than half a million dollars to assist 135 women from 35 countries to study in the United States. The society has also invested $1.5 million in scholarships for its members for advanced education. Many state chapters also have scholarship programs. v

Volunteers Honored SOMERS POINT - The Shore Memorial Hospital administrative staff honored more than 150 hospital volunteers who attended a buffet-reception held in the hospital’s cafeteria during National Volunteer Week.
